Empowering black youth to create unapologetically in the world of fashion.
Company Description
One of the most prominent examples of waste is textile waste. Millennials are discarding clothing and their lack of knowledge on how to sew and repurpose is why this happens. There are only 7.5% of black fashion designers, disempowering black youth to be apart of the fashion industry. Sadly, Fashion school leaves you paying tens of thousands to learn the basics and complexities of sewing. My name is Symphony Akinloye, first year student at Spelman college and CEO of The Creators Vault powered by Fari Studios, where we aim to empower black youth to create unapologetically in the world of fashion. How can we implement a resourceful way that black youth are able to create a clothing line? By implementing textile machines where students are able to create, computers that have graphic design softwares, mentoring and instruction, and an opportunity to industry exposure, black youth are able to utilize their creative abilities to make garments a means of expression. We are the only organization that empowers more black youth to be fashion designers with a creative hub that can be accessed in person or virtually. We are an equitable space where one can express themselves to their fullest intent. We want our students to leave The Creators Vault and empower others to become designers as well as skilled professionals who headline in fashion week. Now let’s talk numbers. As for our traction, we are driven by our support. Everything we do, we reinvest into our business allowing for exponential growth. Thank you for your time and I hope you’re able to play apart in your future designers.
