Company Description
kweliTV celebrates global black stories and amplifies black storytellers through 600+ critically acclaimed indie films, documentaries, animation, web series, children’s shows & audio stories as well as live experiences representing North America, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Australia. Kweli means truth in Swahili. Our mission is to curate and produce content that’s a true reflection of the global black experience. Our business model is built around shifting the black narrative, helping to dismantle implicit bias and increasing the visibility and economic inclusion among black creatives. kweliTV is working with 450+ filmmakers globally—60% of our subscription revenue is allocated to them. More than 91% of our creators are of African descent and 50% are women. As a Black-owned media company, we aim to amplify global black stories while also creating a safe space for our customers to decompress from the constant images of Black death with films and docs of Black excellence, hope and resilience. Through our collective works, we hope to share the African Diaspora experience with all.
